BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

Our school , is not far from the centre of the town. The school is attended by about 700 students ranging from the age of 14 to adults. There are 27 day classes, 3 evening classes and 3 classes in the local prison. The construction of the school building respects all the latest safety standards and needs of those with mobility difficulty. Every part of the school is accessible, thanks to elevators and slipways, without meeting up with any architectural barriers. The school facilities include: a wellstocked library, a video room, a large auditorium which seats 400 people, equipped with complete audio-video technology connected to the internet, two gyms, one of which has a grandstand for spectators, 9 laboratories and 3 multimedia classrooms . Each classroom is equipped with either interactive whiteboard or projectors and we have WiFi connection all over in the school. In the last few years we have seen an increasing number of students coming from non-EU Countries or from countries which have recently joined the EU. The percentage of migrant students has reached 47% in the first classes: this high percentage is mainly due to the fact that it is a technical school giving our students more chances to find a job after finishing school. Very often they have social, economic and cultural disadvantages with a high risk of social exclusion, therefore their integration is becoming one of our most important tasks. Our families come from a medium/low level social group and the most part of our students, without financial support from the school, wouldn't have any access to work and learning opportunities abroad. At the end of the school-year about 108 students get their school leaving qualification: among them 42% have worked for more than 6 months, 7% have worked for less than 6 months, 20% work and studies at the University, 20% attend the University and only the 11% are unemployed or attend shorter professional courses (Fondazione Agnelli/EDUSCOPIO report) Our school, which is working for a more European integration and for the building up of a European Citizenship, has participated and it is still participating in European projects (Ka2-schoolto school, Ka1 VET as partners in a consortium) and has a well qualified, experienced and motivated group of teachers always willing to take part in projects and exchanges. The group in charge for European projects consists of 6 members: a coordinator (teacher of English and German), 1 teacher of English, 2 teachers of Spanish and 2 teachers of economics. The key people are the ICT teacher, the English teacher, the Law teacher and the Economics teacher who will work together on this project. The RIM course students will be involved in this project and, as they specialize in international trade, they could be in charge for the organization of promotional events and business set up. As a school we run projects together with the local Fablab which is particularly involved in crowdfunding activities.
